Also I have a Mexican aunt who married a Peruvian man and she sounds Peruvian now. It just happens. If you're bilingual, this isn't a mystery.

That's what happens when you spend a lot of time with a different culture. As a Mexican American in California, we have a certain kind of Spanish that is different than the Spanish they speak in Mexico. But when I go to Mexico to visit for a bit, I start to pick that Mexican spanish up. It just happens.

In soccer Is very common how players that go play to a foreign team acquire in months the accent of the country of the team. That's what happens when you get immerse in a foreign culture. Mexicans that studied college in the US, for example, return to México saying aaaaaaa when they are searching for words, pronouncing a thick "L", they forget words, they change the gender of the nouns.

Her accent is kinda not as hard as it used to be, there is a slight American-ish sound to it now, even it's funny to say that because that's where she was born, but still she's making progress.
